This Shiraz is made from a small parcel of our best Shiraz vines called Tom’s Block. The ‘Hard Graft’ name came about from the 2007 season when we grafted the Cabernet vines to this clone of Shiraz and, after shooting, the young buds were burnt by a late frost. The result of this frost was the loss of many of the vines and the block has required ongoing work to reinstate the lost plants. Tom Lunney performed the majority of this work – hence ‘Tom’s Block’.
The wine is aged in French oak barrels for just under 12 months. It shows elegant red fruit, intense spice and dark berries. We have allowed this wine to age in the bottle so it is ready for you to drink now or it will improve with patient cellaring.
