2022 Four Winds Vineyard Hard Graft Shiraz 95/100
Bright red and vivid in the glass. Fragrant and pretty aromas of blueberry, cherry, sarsaparilla, bramble and sweet spice. Really complex and alluring. Flavours are in the blue and red fruit spectrum; there’s also spice, cola and pepper. There’s real life and brightness here. The tannins are firm and textured and the acidity has a nice punchiness to it.
2021 Four Winds Vineyard Shiraz 92/100
Deep and crystalline ruby-red colour in the glass. Crushed forest berries, white pepper and hot-stone aromatics. Medium-weight with dark berry fruit, cinnamon and pepper spices flowing and gliding through the palate. A fine note of acidity brings vibrancy with enough supple tannins to guide it quite long and dry to the finish.
2022 Four Winds Vineyard Shiraz 92/100
A lovely, youthful red in appearance. Lifted aromas of pepper, spice, blueberry, mulberry and bramble. Plenty of complexity. Mid-weight, bright and crunchy flavours, all blue fruits, spice, sarsaparilla and mocha. Firm tannins and punchy acidity rounds the palate out nicely. A delicious cooler-climate shiraz.
2021 Four Winds Vineyard Cabernet Merlot 90/100
A deep ruby red colour. Blackcurrant, mint and dry earth aromatics. Medium bodied with bright red and black fruits layered over bay leaf and tobacco characters. Carries good length and a hint of acidity adds to the fine tannins driving it.
2023 Four Winds Vineyard Riesling 90/100
Ultra pale lemon colour. Lemon curd and sweet pastry aromas. Lemon zest, pea shoots, and salty notes run across the tongue. Zippy acidity keeps it very fresh and lively, with good flow and as decent length.
2021 Four Winds Vineyard Chardonnay 90/100
Pale straw yellow. Passionfruit, sage, and honeysuckle aromas. Palate is tighter and fresher than nose would suggest, melon and grapefruit, with a subtle layer of grilled nuts and smoke cured pork. Good length and ample refreshing acidity.
2022 Four Winds Vineyard Tumbarumba Sparkling Chardonnay 90/100
Pale lemon yellow with aromas of apples, pears, and soft green herbs. Light and delicate apple and floral notes glide across the palate. The bead is fine and adds to the creamy lift throughout. Along the flow we see a subtle acidity that hints at seaspray and herbal tones. Good length and crisply dry into the finish.
2022 Four Winds Vineyard Shiraz Viognier 93/100
A vibrant bright, youthful red in the glass. Fragrant aromas of blueberry, cola, sweet spice, nutmeg and cedar. Fleshy, layered and mouth-filling. There’s a pure core of blue fruits and crunchy raspberry along with cedar and spice. Excellent weight, texture and mouth-feel in a very satisfying and complete wine.
2021 Four Winds Vineyard Merlot 89/100
Medium ruby red, notes of blueberry, bouquet garni and wood shavings on the nose. Ripe and round plum and blueberry fruits on the tongue with hints of pencil shavings through the edges. It glides quite long with a generous spirit, if loosely knit into the finish.
2021 Four Winds Vineyard Sangiovese Rosé 89/100
Very pale rose-gold to look at, this sangiovese rosé has subtle cherry and raspberry aromas with a whisper of reduction adding an earthy hint. It’s varietally true with good flavour development through the palate and quenching acid balance carrying a lingering fragrant finish.
2022 Four Winds Vineyard Sparkling Rosé 87/100
Pale salmon pink with crushed raspberries and clotted cream aromas. Palate offers redcurrants and a hint of dried herbs with a line of acidity that works well with the bead to bring freshness and vitality. Reasonable length although a hint of sweetness lingers.
